Bovy and Sires
Bovy knows a little bit about sires too.
If you ask for a sire (using the name, or NAAB code, or part of either) it will bring up a list of matching sires.
For example ask bovy :
And you'll see this
And if you click a sire you'll see
With a few pieces of information on that sire. We actually have much more that that, and if we get requests for more detailed sire information we can add more detail.
Using Barn Names
If you prefer using the barn names instead of the numeric ID, you can do that.
Instead of entering or asking an ID number, you can enter or ask the barn name.
To use barn names, you need to first click the setup icon (the gear) and set the "Use Barn Names'" switch on.
For example, if you say
It will bring up the cowcard for Violet. (If you don't have a Violet, you can use a different name ;) )
When barn names are enabled, lists will show the barn name instead of the ID.
Bovy Update Version 1.5 is available
.A new update was posted October 25th.
And various internal improvements throughout the application.
If the home screen does not show version 1.5, be sure to go to your app store and download this update!
You can ask Bovy to list cows with certain partial ID information. For example,
Find eartag 2345
would list animals with "2345" in their tag. This can also be called "tag" or "EID". It can be useful to replace a missing tag.
This works on other items too, like barn name.
Even without using "find", Bovy will use partial matches, for example
Which cows are daughters of 29H ?
could be used to find ABS daughters.
This is for finding animals based on some search term. If you want to know where a cow is, such as her pen number, just ask
Where is cow 1234 ?
New Bovy Update Now Available !
We just posted a new Bovy version 1.4 update on September 18th to both stores - Google Play for Bovy Android and the App Store for IOS.
This has various fixes, including better barn name support, but for our iPhone users we have fixed some annoying problems with the speech recognition - sometimes Bovy just got either tired, or confused on an iPhone.
Be sure to download this update, especially if you are on an iPhone or iPad !

Is Days In Milk updated ?
Bovy gets her the cow data from your DHI file that is sent to us.
So unless you send generated DHI files more often, it is only as up to date as of your last test.
But the intervals - days in milk, days open, days since last heat, and days carried calf - are always correct for the current date. DIM and the others will be one day higher when you look at your herd tomorrow, so you don't have to make any adjustments in your head.
How many days is that ?
Finding Preg Check cows
Update : as of version 1.5, released October 25, you can ask
Which cows should be preg checked ?
which is a basic list for open cows bred over 30 days ago.
Bovy is not meant to provide a complex vet list. But there are things you can ask which might provide some help.
One way to find cows to preg check could be
Which open cows were bred over 35 days ago ?
which shows the last heat dates.
Which open cows are days since last heat over 35 ?
which shows the days since last heat.
No, not at all, you can always just type your question into the "Ask" page.
Sometimes Bovy will mis-understand what you asked, so it's often quicker to just use the keyboard to fix the question.
